Yeah, that's right--the zombie mafia.

PUG REVIEW: TOUCH OF POWER BY MARIA V.SNYDER

TOUCH OF POWER BY MARIA. V. SNYDER, HEALER 1#
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

Touch of Power (Avry of Kazan, #1) BLURB:

Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan absorbs their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Fifteen Realms, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.
Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life...

Ginny's (The Pug's) Review:

I and my owner are a big fan of Maria V.J. Snyder, (although we were not overly enthusiastic about the ending of spy glass), nether the less we were excited about getting our paws on her new series (healer).

This book was very much similar to her glass series with a similar magical universe that I was glad to see again, as I loved the varied magicians and magical beings that were presented in both this new series and in her last couple of books.

This book focus on the main character’s Avry journey as she struggles with the emotional and physical manifestations of the views of the people to her natural talent, which has been accused of starting the plague that killed thousands of people who lived in the fifteen realms casing anyone with healer powers to be killed.
Just when things are looking the worse for our Avry she is kidnapped by a band of rogues who have a hidden agenda in helping her to survive, because of this we are taken on an exciting, heart pounding, saddening and physical journey that keeps you turning the pages late into the night.

The characters that are presented to us in this book are lively and very 3D although there is still plenty of potential to develop them further in very interesting ways.  I was truly saddened and cried a few pugs tears when some of the characters who I became to truly love were given their final role in this book never to resurface, although you will have to read the book to find out who bites the dust.

I thoroughly enjoy this book as the journey given to us is neither too long nor too short and presents a beautifully written complex storyline that unfolds slowly like the petals of a beautiful flower.
Although this story is a slow burner it has great action with in its pages and I definitely suggest everyone to read it.

Can’t wait to read book two.

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES:
Scent of Magic (Healer, #2) COMES OUT: December 27th 2012

PUG REVIEW: GRIMSPACE BY ANN AGUIRRE

GRIMSPACE BY ANN AGUIRRE (SIRANTHA JAX SERIES) 1#

Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1)                                                                             Blurb:
By all accounts, Sirantha Jax should have burned out years ago…

As the carrier of a rare gene, Jax has the ability to jump ships through grimspace—a talent which cuts into her life expectancy, but makes her a highly prized navigator for the Corp. But then the ship she’s navigating crash-lands, and she’s accused of killing everyone on board. It’s hard for Jax to defend herself: she has no memory of the crash.

Now imprisoned and the subject of a ruthless interrogation, Jax is on the verge of madness. Then a mysterious man breaks into her cell, offering her freedom—for a price. March needs Jax to help his small band of rogue fighters break the Corp monopoly on interstellar travel—and establish a new breed of jumper.

Jax is only good at one thing—Grimspace—and it will eventually kill her. So she may as well have some fun in the meantime…

Ginny's (THE PUG'S) review

I got this book by chance in a bungle with other Ann Aguirre books; I’m so glad I choose to read this book even though it’s not normally my type.

This book is fast pace and from the very first page we are thrown straight into the middle of things, just like the main character, we are left to try to figure things out by the small bits and pieces that are given to us as the plot progressive at a high speed. This book is full of ass kicking action and attitude that has a life threatening deadline.

This book has a great set of characters that I loved and was genuinely upset when some were thrown to the waist lines never to resurface again; they have a great 3D present.
I can’t wait to get my paws on book two I hope it is as fast paced and as feisty as Grimspace.

OTHER BOOKS IN THIS SERIES:
Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2)Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3)Killbox (Sirantha Jax, #4)Aftermath (Sirantha Jax, #5)Endgame (Sirantha Jax, #6)
