That all changes following a scorching sexual encounter with a stranger whose face she doesn't see. After she's kidnapped by thugs and rescued by a man with a very familiar voice, Jolie becomes a pawn in a struggle she never knew existed.

Ginny's (The Pug) Review:
This an ARC Review thanks to NetGally
This is my first time reading anything by Jax Garren and my
pug mind is still undecided on whether I truly like or not.
How Beauty met the Beast follows the meeting and possible
courtship of Jolie who is a rich, well-educated girl who has turned to the more
seductive arts and Hauk, a good hearted man who is haunted by his days in the
service and the burns that cause others to look away in fear, during their budding
friendship there is underground rebellion and dangerous encounters that
threaten both to tear them apart and bring them closer together.
This story is beautifully written and has a interesting and modern
concept but I felt that this book was more like a teaser for something bigger
rather than a short novel, I also felt that I had been given an impression of
more magic and paranormal elements due to the cover and blurb but was disappointed
there was only a small dose even though different god’s were mentioned
throughout.
Overall this book is about the romance that
plays out between the two main characters; Hauk who plays the beast and Jolie
who plays the beauty, everything else that happens in the story is more like
background noise that adds a bit of excitement and adventure to the otherwise
love focused storyline.
I did enjoy the writing style and the characters personalities
and the old age tale of not judging a book by its cover, I truly did root for
Jolie and Hauk but due to the shortness of the novel I felt the story and characters
suffered a little bit for this, I would have enjoyed the book more if Jax had
expanded the storyline a bit further and we got more of insight into his world.
I would recommended this book to anyone who wants a good dose of romance but not a lot else.
I hope you have enjoy my latest review, please come back soon.

This one caught my attention, as it appears to have all the ingredients I like. Too bad the plot is lacking.
ReplyDeleteThe cover gives the feel as there might be a touch of steampunk to it. I've never seen this one, so interesting to learn about it. Thank you.
