PUG REVIEW: BETA BY RACHEL COHN

BETA (ANNEX #1) RACHEL COHN
                                                                        BLURB:
Beta (Annex, #1)Elysia is created in a laboratory, born as a sixteen-year-old girl, an empty vessel with no life experience to draw from. She is a Beta, an experimental model of a teenage clone. She was replicated from another teenage girl, who had to die in order for Elysia to exist.

Elysia's purpose is to serve the inhabitants of Demesne, an island paradise for the wealthiest people on earth. Everything about Demesne is bioengineered for perfection. Even the air induces a strange, euphoric high, which only the island's workers--soulless clones like Elysia--are immune to.

At first, Elysia's life is idyllic and pampered. But she soon sees that Demesne's human residents, who should want for nothing, yearn. But for what, exactly? She also comes to realize that beneath the island's flawless exterior, there is an under-current of discontent among Demesne's worker clones. She knows she is soulless and cannot feel and should not care--so why are overpowering sensations cloud-ing Elysia's mind?

Ginny's ( The pug's) Review:
I just like to thank Rachel over at hellochelly blogspot for sending me this awesome book and getting me into Rachel Cohn books. Go over to her website by clicking the link for some awesome posts!

First of all let me start by saying how much I love this book cover and to top it off, this simple but beautiful cover art is actually shiny which I love!
I didn't really know what I was letting my self in for as I haven't read many clone involved books and I have never read  Rachel Cohn before but I am so glad I took a chance as I found this book great.

In the first few pages of  this book we are introduced to Elysia the first ever Beta teenage clone, we see how she came into this world and how she starts her life in the governor's home on the beautiful island of Demesne, where the sea is the brightest blue and the air has an extra chemical that makes you more relaxed than you could be anywhere else. This new life is exciting for Elysia as all she is know is the Lab or the shop she was sold in as home but is this new life all she wants and what is passed Demesne ocean walls?

I loved Rachel Cohn writing style, it allowed me to picture the place perfectly without becoming bog down with too much detail, I also loved the characters, you see plenty of development in the first book and I become so involved with the characters I was barking at the pages when they did something I didn't like. Although the characters were already quite layered I cant wait to find out what direction Rachel develops them in next as there are tons of possibilities left.
To me this is always the sign of a great writer and story when I love the characters so much I'm sad when the end of the book comes and I have to say goodbye to them.

This story is full of spice that hots up this game of life and causes the audience to be turning the pages late into the night to find out what the next shocking twist in the story might be.

This book is fresh, fun, intense and surprising, I recommend everyone to try this book.

I hope you have enjoy my review, please come back soon
